1. George Washington (1789 – 1797)

If you are an historian, you probably remember this great man in history. A founding father of the United States, who took part in the struggle for independence of the United States. He served his term as the first president of the United States from 1789 up to 1797 where John Adams took over from him.

George Washington is remembered as a father of the United States. Apart from commanding the Continental Army During the American Revolution, this man also presided over the convention that saw the drafting of the US constitution.

2. John Adams (1797 – 1801)

John Adams became the second president of the United States. He served his first term and lost to Thomas Jefferson who was his vice president. John Adams started his career as a lawyer and studied in Harvard. Adams also served as the first vice president of the United States.

He is remembered for fighting unfair taxation by the British and also championed against any form of oppression that the British colony imposed on the US citizens.

3. Thomas Jefferson (1801-1809)

This is the man that was so much obsessed with books. He became the third president of the United States of America, and also served as a vice president while John Adams was the president. He wore many titles and among them a writer, philosopher, architect, lawyer, and a statesman.

One of the achievements of Thomas Jefferson while as the president is that he worked so hard to stabilize the economy of the United States, and defeated the pirates from North Africa during the Barbary war. He is also the man who founded the University of Virginia among other achievements.

4. James Madison (1809-1817)

James Madison became the fourth president of the United States. He was born in 16th March 1751 and died 28th June 1836. James Madison is known for his major contribution in writing the constitution alongside Alexander Hamilton and John Jay. That’s why he is referred to as the father of the constitution. In this case, he is the man who introduced the bill of rights such as the freedom of worship among other rights.

James Madison is remembered for leading the United States into a second war of independence against the Great Britain in 1812 that saw the expansion of agriculture.

5. James Monroe (1817-1825)

James Monroe became the 5th president of the United States after James Madison. He is also the founding father of the United States that served under the era of good feelings, just after the war of 1812. He was a member of Democratic-Republican party and the last president of the Virginia dynasty.

James Monroe is known for strengthening the American foreign policy, and intervention on the Western Hemisphere. He also supported the work that was done by the American Colonization Society that saw the establishment of a home for freed African slaves in Liberia.
